Standing precariously on an 800m rock outcrop this magnificent Cathar castle is absolutely stunning and a must for visitors – it took my breath away! With its magnificent views of the surrounding countryside right down to the Mediterranean it is not hard to see why this became a strategic location on the French / Spanish borders occupied by the Kings of Aragon and Louis IX. On a windy day you may also be treated to a magnificent aerial display by one of the local hand gliders!
